8
Q

What does it mean that the valo light beam is collimated

A

that the light exits the valo in a column, making it more concentrated. As opposed to coming out and spreading out like a fan.

9
Q

Why does the valo light use LED lights of different frequencies

A
  1. to make sure the valo light will cure all different types of composite. Some composites require different frequencies of lights than others.
  2. It also doesn’t lose power over time, so you know your getting the composite cured

11
Q

Why is it important the way that the VALO light is angled the way it is

A

Because we can get it positioned better, and thus better cure the composite. The patient won’t need to open their mouth so wide to get it in

15
Q

What is the benefit of collumation

A

All of the power comes straight out of the light, better curing whatever the light hits

16
Q

What is a downside of collumation

A

The light doesn’t spread out so you need to be more accurate with your placement. or on large restorations you may have to cure more than once

17
Q

What are the two most common photoinitiators the VALO light will cure

A

Camphorquinone

Proprietary

18
Q

How does the VALO indicate which power lever you are on

A

Standard - the light will be solid green

High Power - the light will be solid orange

Plasma Emulation - the light will be flashing orange

19
Q

What are the different timing intervals for each power level

A

Standard Power - 5, 10, 15, 20 Seconds

High Power - 1, 2, 3, 4, seconds

Plasma Emulation - 3 seconds

20
Q

What is a hemostat and what is it used for

A

the curved locking clamping scissor things

they are used to pick up, place, remove things.

21
Q

Policy Questions Are Asked on the test

A

yes

22
Q

What is the curing time PER LAYER for each power level

A

Standard - 1 X 10 seconds

High Power - 1 X 4 seconds

Plasma Emulation - 1 X 3 seconds

23
Q

What is the FINAL cure time for each of the power levels

A

Standard - 1 x 20 Seconds

High Power - 3 x 4 seconds

Plasma Emulation - 2 x 3 seconds

24
Q

What are the benefits of properly using the VALO light

A

It produces a harder/stronger bond

relieves composite stress

25
Q

what are iris scissors and what are they used for

A

The small scissors

they are used for cutting light materials,

no metal, paper, or heavy plastics

26
Q

what are the bigger scissors called and what are they used for

A

curved crown or collar scissors

they are used for cutting heavy materials

paper, plastics, and metal

27
Q

What is the acorn burnisher and what is it used for

A

a burnisher used for shaping and carving amalgum and composite

28
Q

What are the ball burnishers and what are they used for

A

balls on the ends

used for burnishing matrix bands and amalgum, shaping composite

29
Q

What are condensors and what are they used for

A

the cylinders with flat ends

they are used for packing amalgum into cavity preps, sometimes used with composites

30
Q

What is the cleoid discoid and what is it used for

A

the spade shape on one end, the cirlce on the other

carving amalgum and wax

31
Q

what is the half hollenbeck and what is it used for

A

a long skinny spade shape on both ends

used forcarving amalgum and wax, as well as shaping composite

32
Q

Cleoid discoid vs. half hollenbeck

A
33
Q

what are the IPC carvers and what are they used for

A

the flat skinny ended instruments

they are used for placing and shaping composite

34
Q

what is the explorer/probe and what is it used for

A

it has the skinny hook on one end and the straight skinny measuing probe

it is a diagnostic instrument

caries detection, adequacy of restoration, enamel defects, measure periodontal pockets, 1mm increments

35
Q

what is the amalgum carrier and what is it used for

A

picks up amalgum and places into cavity prep

36
Q

What is our access to the sim lab

A
  1. during course instruction periods
  2. 7am - 11 pm Monday - Thursday
  3. 6 am - 5 pm Friday
  4. 10am - 6 pm saturdays
  5. NOT DURING OTHER SCHEDULED CLASSES
  6. NOT WHILE OTHER CLASSES ARE IN THE SIM LAB
37

Why do we need to wear scrubs

A

to be professional

38
