Preclinical/Sim Lab (complete) Flashcards
What is a bur
burs are milled from steel or carbide stock with cutting blades of all shapes and sizes.
What is the most popular stock used for burs and why
Tungsten carbide, and that is because the burs are longer lasting, sharper, and maintain a sharp cutting edge longer than steel
What are burs used for
enamel and dentin cutting as well as finishing and polishing tooth and restorative materials
What are diamonds
diamonds are made by bonding diamond particles to a milled shaft.
Do diamonds come in many shapes and sizes
yes
What are diamonds used for
every type of restorative procedure from cutting and reducing tooth, to fine polishing of restorations and porcelain.
How should the valo light be held when curing composite?
have the light very close to the tooth, and parallel to the area we are curing
What does it mean that the valo light beam is collimated
that the light exits the valo in a column, making it more concentrated. As opposed to coming out and spreading out like a fan.
Why does the valo light use LED lights of different frequencies
- to make sure the valo light will cure all different types of composite. Some composites require different frequencies of lights than others.
- It also doesn’t lose power over time, so you know your getting the composite cured
What is the dispenser gun used for
dispensing composites and other materials
Why is it important the way that the VALO light is angled the way it is
Because we can get it positioned better, and thus better cure the composite. The patient won’t need to open their mouth so wide to get it in
What are the power levers of the VALO
Standard - 1000 mW/cm^2
HIgh Power - 1400 mW/cm^2
Plasma Emulation - 3200 mW/cm^2
What is the Wavelength of the VALO light
395 nm - 480 nm
How many LED lights are in the valo light
4
What is the benefit of collumation
All of the power comes straight out of the light, better curing whatever the light hits
