Cancer
Disease caused by uncontrollable cell division of abnormal cells

Structure that belongs to the immune system, contains immune cells that attack pathogens carried in lymph fluids

The response to a pathogen entering skin causing skin to become red, swollen and painful

The study of the relationship between living organisms and their physical environment
Bone marrow
A spongy substance found in the center of the bones. It manufactures bone marrow stem cells and other substances, which in turn produce blood cells
Stem cells
Undifferentiated cells that have the potential to differentiate into any specialised cell in order to carry out functional activities
Proliferation
Rapid increase in the amount of something
Malignancy
State or presence of an infectious tumour
Immune response
The way our body defends itself against substances it sees as harmful or foreign
Selection pressure
Change in environment that mean certain characteristics give organisms an advantage
Intraspecific competition
Competition between individuals of the same species
