Include authority of the commandments and Jesus’s own attitude to Sabbath keeping - Matt 12 : Jesus, Lord of the Sabbath. Went into the synagogue - man with shrivelled hand - lawful to do good on Sabbath

Types of prayer
Adoration - intense love

Thanksgiving - a sense of gratitude
Intercession - asking on behalf of someone else
Supplication - asking prayers for yourself
Meditation and contemplation - silent forms of prayer
extempore prayer - spontaneous prayer
Silence can be part of worship eg Quakers
Use of artefacts and objects
To help Christians concentrate on prayer eg rosary/statues, bible. Must remember that they are not the object of the worship

Prayer must be sincere
Matt 6:5 ‘and when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites … to be seen by men…go to your room, close the door and pray to your Father.
Christians believe if sincere then God will forgive.
Faith
Faith is essential. In Mark 11 ‘have faith in God’ explains how no prayer can happen without faith.
Lord’s Prayer
contains all types of prayer so ideal pattern of prayer.
Jesus in Matt 6 told followers to use this prayer.
Liturgical Prayer
Following a set patern eg the Mass ( opposite to spontaneous - extempore)
