Adoration- expression of honor or praise for God’s power, majesty, and sovereignty
Contrition- expression of sorrow for one’s sin
Thanksgiving- expression of gratitude for all His blessings
Supplication/Petition- expression of what we need or want
3 forms of prayer
Meditation- thinking about God (involves the mind)
Conversion- speaking with God (involves the heart)
Contemplation- resting in God (involves the soul)

2 reasons why usefulness shouldn’t be the primary motive to pray
You shouldn’t use a friend and you shouldn’t use God -usefulness/utility should never be the basis is a friendship; since you should never use God
If the usefulness/utility ends you’ll stop praying -if the prayer doesn’t produce its desired result, i.e. Isn’t useful; then you should never use God
4 conditions that has to be satisfied in order for Jesus to answer our prayer
1) we ask the Father in Jesus’ name
2) what we seek is good for our salvation
3) we pray with perseverance, devotion, humility, and confidence
4) we pray in the state of grace or to get back into the state of grace
