God will answer prayer but not always in the way a person would like (asked for bad thing/later), help someone accept God’s will, some Christians believe answers = miracles,
Jesus Prayer
Orthodox “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner” - repeated, clears mind, achieve inner peace
Garden of Gethesmane
Mark 14:32-36, Jesus’ prayer not answered, God’s will accepted, expresses honest emotional pain, reaches inner peace
Matthew 6:7
” when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.”
Importance of Lord’s Prayer
Recited in schools, brings sense of unity and spiritual purpose, reminds that must forgive others to be forgiven, only effective if person’s relationships with others right, reminds Christians God = Father of whole community
