What is special Deixis?
Spatial Deixis is referring to something in space I.e. Where, here, there, over there etc.
What is temporal Deixis?
Temporal Deixis is referring to something in time. I.e. When, then, now, a while ago etc.
What is non-literal meaning?
Non-literal meaning is to mean soothing instead of what is said. I.e. That guy drives me up the wall.
What is indirect meaning?
To mean something in addition to what is said.
A: that cake looks good
B: do you want some?
What is sociopragmatics?
Social values and perceptions underlying the interpretation and performance of communication as appropriate or inappropriate.
What’s is Etic perspective?
The external analysis of a culture.
What is Emic perspective?
The internal study of a culture.
What is positive face?
The desire that what you want is also wanted by at least some others.
What is negative face?
The desire that your actions are not impeded by others.
What is Deixis?
Pointing between a reference point and aspects of the situation in which the utterance takes place.
