What is worship?
It is the act of religious praise, honour or devotion. It is a way for christians to show their deep love and honour to God.
What is private worship?
Worship done in privacy at home.
What is the purpose of worship?
- Thank God
- To ask for forgiveness
- To seek God’s help for themselves and/or others
- deepen and strengthen relationship and faith with God
What is liturgical worship?
Liturgical worship is a church service that follows a set pattern of prayers and readings, usually found in a printed book.
What do most forms of christian worship have in common?
readings from the Holy Bible, prayers and the Eucharist.
Why is liturgical worship?
Christians who participate in liturgical services may feel connected to other worshippers as they are following the same traditions.
This also makes it familiar as it is the same all around the world- great for visiting christians.
As a congregation, Christians often participate together, repeating key information and singing hymns.
Why is Non-liturgical worship important to Christians?
service can planned and ordered to suit a certain theme.
No set order- makes it more enjoyable
What is Non-liturgical worship?
Non-liturgical worship is more informal and has less structure, and the elements can be tailored to different types of services.
For example, the sermon could be on a topical theme, and prayers could be in the service leader’s own words rather than those written in a book.
