Tell me a little bit about yourself?
I’m James, and I’m a graduate of the University of Nottingham. I received a 2:1 degree in History and since then have worked two jobs. One being at Smart Hyde park inn, where I first developed an interest for working with homelessness or to reduce it. And after this job I worked at The Muffin Man Tea shop. I’m a hardworking and kind individual who during these two jobs and the past month have also worked as a freelance photographer for extra income thanks to an opportunity provided by Aether Magazine.
In my spare time I like to watch football and have been teaching myself animation recently

MOST RELEVANT TO THE JOB:
- Smart hostels:
Worked as receptionist for busy hostel in Hyde Park
- Was the sole representative of the company so had large responsibility in safeguarding 200-300 guests nightly
- Dealt with problematic people and vulnurable people, trying to help them when possible
- Example: Issaga, Alex, Yassin, Kindness is key to handling people
- Did some admin for the hostel

Most recently I worked as a freelance photographer for Aether Magazine
And before that I worked as a waiter for the Muffin Man Tea Shop
In my degree I studied history. It required a great deal of teamwork as many of my projects were divided into and presented by teams. It also required a great deal of professional standard essay writing and attention to detail.
3 transferrable skills from experience with examples
1: Time management: working at Royal Mail, we always had strict deadlines to meet and had to work as a team to achieve those. Also at Carphone Warehouse
2: Teamwork: Carphone Warehouse, the hostel making friends with my colleages by coming early
3: administration: data entry, reservations accuracy etc
Where do you want to be in 5 years?
Ideally working towards reducing homelessness or in a similar vein. I aim to be working within housing or for local government. I’m excited to see the opportunities that working for RMG provide in terms of learning and progression.
Why do you want this job/ to work for this company?
RMG is a prestigous company and is the largest provider of private homes for councils in the UK. As a graduate I’m looking to venture into a more professional environment where I can work on myself while also working to help other people. This role would be a great entry point for me to start working in the field of homelessness and homelessness relief
What are 2 of your greatest strengths/weaknesses?
Strength:

- something im working on is being less of a push over.
