Add a drop of water on a clean slide
Use tweezers and peel off epidermal tissue and place on slide
Add iodine solution and place a cover slip on top
Clip slide onto the stage
Select the lowest-powered objective lense
Look down eyepiece and adjust the coarse adjustment knob
Adjust focus with the fine adjustment knob
If greater magnification is needed change to a higher-powered objective lense
