Q

Avipox

  1. types of dz virus causes
  2. method of transmission
  3. zoonotic?
  4. does it change/recombine/mutate
  5. distribution
  6. diagnosis
  7. differential diagnosis
  8. control
A
  1. Dry form: effects skin and nonfeathered areas, epidermal hyperplasia.

Wet form- cheesy plaques on mouth, pharynx, trachea

  1. mosquito vector, direct contact with lesions or fomites
  2. not zoonotic

4.

  1. eosinophilic cytoplasmic inclusion bodies (bollinger bodies), virus isolation in eggs, EM
  2. vaccines are not very effective bc they are very species/strain specific. best is to isolate sick and control vector
