Traditional Authority
Traditional authority is linked to heriditary systems of power. Customs are regarded as legitimate as they’ve carried on from generation to generation.
Charismatic Authority
Charismatic authority is based on the power of the individuals personality. This is usually seen in dictatorships and authoritarian systems of governance.
Legal-Rational Authority
This system links authority to a clearly and defined set of rules. Power is attached to an office rather than a person.
Federalism
Federalism is a constitutional prescription to prevent abuses of power by higher forms of government. It fragments power and distributes it across multiple sub-national sections of government.

The division of the legislative branch into two houses.
