What is liberal democracy?
Liberal democracy emphasizes the separation of powers, an independent judiciary, and a system of checks and balances between branches of government.
What is classical/athenian democracy?
Athenian Democracy refers to the system of democratic government used in Athens, Greece from the 5th to 4th century BCE.
What is cosmopolitan democracy?
Cosmopolitan democracy argues that global governance of the people, by the people, for the people is possible and needed. It is explored the application of democracy at the transnational and global sphere.
What is developmental democracy?
It suggests that democracy develops the communtiy as well of the lives of those within it.
What is protective democracy?
Protective democracy is meant to protect the rights of citizens and safeguard the citizens from the tyranny of state power.
What is people’s democracy?
A direct and immediate representation and articulation of the peoples interest.
What is radical democracy?
The notion that everyone has interest in having the capacity to make decisions that effect their lives. This is not limited to the political sphere.
What is legitimate democracy?
Democracy gives political structures legitimacy. This is because it validates the laws we are governed by. We become bound by the laws we voted in.
What are the three pillars of legitimate democracy?

What is grassroots democracy?
A tendency towards designing political processes that shift as much decision-making authority to the organization’s lowest geographic or social level of organization.
