What is Doctrine #11?
We Believe in the immortality of the soul, in the resurrection of the body, in the general judgment at the end of the world, in the eternal happiness of the righteous, and in the endless punishment of the wicked.
Coming of the Kingdom of God/Heaven
The Bible provides us with multiple images of what the coming Kingdom of God will be:
- Isaiah 11:6-9: Harmony with God and all creation
- Isaiah 65: 17-25: New creation with joy
- Rev. 21:1-7; 22:4 God dwells with His people
- Rev. 21:9-22: Sensory splendor
- Rev. 22:1-5: Sustaining gifts
“In Christ’s Resurrection from the dead and the outpouring of the Spirit, the life of the Kingdom of God was released into the world” (HoD 224).
Apostles/Post-Pentecost
Apostles recognized post-Pentecost that in Christ the kingdom has come. Peter in his epistles confirms with confidence both the present and future coming of the Kingdom – with its rewards.

Growth Parable: Secretly Growing Seed
The seed grows exactly as it is designed to do. It has cooperation (farmer) but the source or power of its growth comes not from the farmer but within its own design. It can neither be nor do anything else.
The kingdom of God was “born that way.”
