Power System / Power Quality Flashcards
What is power system and what are main components
Generation, transmission, and distribution. Includes generators, transformers, lines, substations, etc.
What are the main components of a substation
Transformers, Circuit breakers, disconnect switches (isolators), busbars, insulators, instrument transformers (CT, VT), grounding system, surge arrestors, auxiliary power supply, communication / control equipment
What was the substation that we went to in Sweden
Ellevio I think
What are the powers in the power triangle and what are their symbols
Active power (bottom) (P) Reactive power (right) (Q)
Apparent power (hypotenuse) (S)
Phase Angle (Phi):
What is power factor and should it be high or low?
What are the units of the powers in the power diagram
Active power: W
Reactive power:
Apparent power:
What do the different types of power do
Active power: real power that does to the load, does work
Reactive power:
Apparent power:
What is phase angle
It is phi in the power triangle, which is the angle between the real power and the apparent power.
