What is a state?
An area of land of an independent with well-defined boundaries, within which there is a politically organised body of people under a single government. They are political entities that have territories over which the body politic exercises exercises sovereignty.
What is a nation?
A large group of people with strong bonds of identity. They are united by shared descent, history, traditions, culture and language.
What is sovereignty?
Absolute authority which independent states exercise in the government of the land and people in their territories.
What is territorial integrity?
States exercise their sovereignty within a specific territory, boundaries of which have been established by international law.
What is a nation-state?
A state that has sovereignty over a single nation.
What is the state apparatus?
Set of institutions and organisations through which state power is achieved.
What is a country?
A nation with its own government, occupying a particular territory.
