Positives and negatives of GDP
GDP measures wealth, but having a high GDP ignores the inequality of distribution of wealth and it doesn’t guarantee a good quality of life

Physical - natural disasters, climate, location, landlocked
Human - war, education, government, overpopulation, necessities, health, unemployment, gender and racial equality
What are the 3 elements of HDI and what are they measured by?
Life expectancy - self explanatory
education - years of schooling per 25 yr old
Income - GDP per capita
Similarities and differences between developed and developed countries? (4 each)
Similarities: culture, relationships, increasing population, death
Differences: wealth, life expectancy, poor living conditions, access to necessities
Poverty and extreme poverty line?
$2 and $1.25 respectively
Criteria of a developing country?
Low standard of living, low HDI, low life expectancy, underdeveloped industry base

Is HDI more realistic than GDP? Problems?
Yes, but GDP doesn’t measure contentment with lifestyle
How can you tell if someone is in the poverty cycle?
If they’re born it and their children are born in it.
What is the poverty cycle?
Born in poverty ➡️ Grows up ➡️ in poverty ➡️ Poor educmecation ➡️ Unemployment ➡️ Has children
