Define: Developed Country
A country that has a strong economic rating.
Also has good education, healthy and has good income etc.
Define: Child Mortality Rates
The measure of how many children, under five years old, die.
Define: Developing Country
A country striving to achieve a strong economic rating, but lacks wealth, employment and income.
Define: Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
A measure of a country’s development which is measured by the worth of goods and services produced DOMESTICALLY, per capital per annum.
Should be combined with HDI because you can’t measure development on wealth alone.
Define: Human Development Index (HDI)
A measure of development which is measured by health, education and income.
It should be combined with GDP because a country with these things isn’t necessarily wealthy.
Define: Poverty
Being deprived of food, shelter, money and clothing and can’t satisfy their basic needs.
Define: Poverty line and extreme poverty line
Poverty: less than $2 per day
Extreme poverty: less than $1.25 per day
Define: poverty cycle
Series of events in poverty that can’t usually be broken
Define: sustainability
Able to be maintained at a certain level
Define: slum
A heavily populated yet compacted area with poor living conditions.
Define: wealth
Having a lot of money
Define: landlocked
Isolated from trading places
