What is used to measure poverty?
A
- GNI
- For individuals and families we need to know how poor they are relative to their country.

A
< $1.25 a day adjusted for your countries price.

Why is poverty dispersed globally?
A
- Culture and religion
- Institutions (as corruption exists it makes it difficult to improve institutions)
- Climate (makes it difficult to trade)
- Not developing organically (poorer countries don’t develop the same way as successfully developed countries)

- Reduce child mortality
- Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
- Promote gender equality and women empowerment
- Improve maternal health
- Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases

What were the purpose of sustainable development goals?

- Introduced in 2015
- They included eliminating poverty rather than reducing poverty and focus on protecting the environment.
- Responsibilities from governments often passed onto non governmental organizations such as Oxfam.

- They set unachievable goals
- SDGs are loosely defined
