What does POV (Point of View) mean?
The way a story is narrated.
What are the 3 types of POV?
First Person, Second Person, and Third Person.
What is First Person?
The narration is from the perspective of a character told with pronouns like “I”, “me”, “my”, “we”,”us”, or “our”.
What is Second Person?
The narrator uses “you” to describe the reader’s thoughts, actions, and backround. May speak directly to the audience using “you”, “your”, and “you’re”.
What is Third Person
An external narrator, uses “he”, “him”, “she”, “her”, “they”, and “them”.
What is ominscent Third Person?
An all knowing narrator. Knows all the actions, feelings and thoughts of all the characters.
What is limited Third Person?
The narrator only knows the thoughts, feelings, and actions of one character.
What is characterization?
The way a writer reveals the personality of a character.
What is the acronym used for characterization?
The acronym is S.T.E.A.L.
What does the S stand for?
What the character SAYS.
What does the T stand for?
What the character THINKS.
What does the E stand for?
What EVERYONE says about the character.
What does the A stand for?
What the character’s ACTIONS are.
What does the L stand for?
What the character LOOKS like.
