Who was Poulenc?
Poulenc was a French composer and pianist who made significant contributions to French music in the decades after WW1. He was a member of Les Six which was a group of 6 French composers in the early 20th century who opposed heavy German romanticism. His compositions include solo piano works, chamber music, choral pieces, operas, ballets and orchestral concert music.

Before it was published, Poulenc died of a sudden heart attack so an editor was employed to identify some notes and provide missing dynamics and articulations.
