What is a concerto?
A large-scale work for one or more solo instruments with orchestral accompaniment.
Who was this concerto written for?
Anton Stadler- Invented the basset and was a close friend of Mozart’s. Mozart initially wrote the concerto for the basset but when it was published, it was rewritten for the A clarinet. The orchestral accompaniment is written for a chamber orchestra which consists of 2 flutes, 2 bassoons, 2 french horns and strings.
What period is it from?
Classical period (1750-1820)
Who is Mozart?
Mozart was an Austrian composer, pianist and violinist who is widely recognized as one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music. He composed over 600 works including operas, symphonies, concertos, masses and chamber music.
