Postural Distortion Patterns Flashcards
Pes planus distortion syndrome
Caused by- Flat feet, knee valgus, and adducted and internally rotated hips
Overactive muscles- gastrocnemius and Soleus, adductor complex and hip flexors
Under active- anterior and posterior Tibialis, glute max and medius
Lower crossed syndrome
Static positions- hip joints flexed, anterior pelvic tilt (arch) , and excessive lordosis (extension) of lumbar spine
Overactive muscles- hip flexors, lumbar extensors (low back muscles)
Underactive muscles- glute max and med, hamstring complex, abs
Upper crossed syndrome
Static positions- thoracic spine excessive kyphosis (hunchback), shoulders protracted and internally rotated, head and neck jutted forward
Overactive- pectoralis major and minor, levator scapula and sternocleidomastoid, upper traps
Under active- middle and lower traps, deep neck (cervical) muscles
