Fourth trimester: birth to 6 weeks
reproductive organs return to pre-pregnant state
Gravida
Woman who is pregnant.

Multipara:
Nullipara:
Primipara: giving birth the first time (viable pregnancy)
Multipara: given birth multiple times with viable offspring
Nullipara: No live births
Viability begins at what week gestation
In textbook, 20 weeks is considered viable for survival.
In practice, 24 weeks is the standard
Term:
38 to 42 weeks is considered full term
Post date/post term:
Pregnancy lasting over 42 weeks
Pre-term:
Baby born after 20 weeks, but before completion of 37 weeks.
Abortion:
Elective or spontaneous termination before 20 weeks gestation
Involution
Contraction of the uterus after birth, returning to pre-pregnancy state.
Fundus:
Top of uterus
Boggy uterus
Soft/squishy feeling uterus
Colostrum:
First milk produced after birth
