What to give for postoperative pain and cramping?
opiods for pain and NSAIDS for cramping and pain.
C-section infection prophylaxis?
1st or 2nd gen cephalosporins

- pertussis vacinnation
- measles, mumps and rubella vaccine
- Rhogam (if mother is RH negative)
Sterilisation options?
tubal ligation and vasectomy (less invasive)
other contraception for those who do not want sterilisation?
long-acting reversible cotnraception (LARC) of an intrauterine device (IUD) or an implantable protestin.
Define postpartum hemorrhage:
blood loss exceeding 500 ml in vaginal delivery and 1000 ml in C-section.
Common causes of postpartum hemorrhage:
uterine atony, placenta accreta,cervical laceration, vaginal laceration, and retained POCs
How much blood loss do the mother have to loose to get coagulation therapy?
After loss of 2-3L
4 Ts?
Tone, trauma, thrombi and tissue
If patient has a large drop in hematocrit, what to look for?
Vaginal wall hematoma
