Posterior cervical traingle Flashcards
Sternocleidomastoid Inferior Attachment
sternal head- anterior surface of manubrium of sternum
clavicular head- supperior surface of medial third of clavicle
Sternoclideomastoid Superior Attachment
lateral surface of mastoid process of temporal bone and lateral half of superior nuchal line
Sternocliedomastoid innervation
spinal accessory and c2 c3
Sternocliedomastoid Main actions (Unilateral, bilateral, together)
Unilateral contraction: tilts head to same side and rotates it so face is turned superiorly toward opposite side
Bilaterally: 1) extends neck at atlanto occipital joints
2)flexes cervical vertebrae so chin approaches manubrium
3) extends superior cerical vertebrae while flexing inferior vertebrae so chin is thrust forward with head kept at level
With cervical vertebrae fixed may elevate manubrium and medial end of clavicle, assisting in pumping hanndle action of deep respiration
Roof of PCT
investing layer of deep cervical fascia
floor of PCT
formed by muscles coered by the prevertebral layer of deep cervical fascia
Posteriorcervical traingle Anterior border
posterior border of the SCM
PCT posterior border
trapezius
PCT inferior border
middle third of the clavicle between the trapezius and SCM
Apex of PCT
where the SCM and trapezius meet on the superior nuchal line of occipital bone
