Intermediate Layerof intrinsic Back Muscle Flashcards
Erector Spinae Origin
Origin:
arise by broad tendon from the posterior part of illiac crest, posterior surface of sacrum, sacroiliac ligaments, sacral and inferior lumbar spinous processes, and supraspinous ligament
erector spinae (what composes them)
I LOVE SPAGHETTI
Illiocostalis- Lumaborum, Thoracis, Cervicis
Longissimus- Thoracis, Cervicis, Capitas
Spinalis- Thoracis, cervicis, capitas
Illiocostalis (Lumborum, thoracis, cervicis) Insertion
Fibers run superior to angles of lower ribs and cervical transverse processes
Longissiumus (Thoracis, Cervisis, Capitas) Insertion
fibers run super to ribs between tubercles and angles to transverse processes in thoracic and cervical regions and to mastoid process of temporal bone
Spinalis (thoracis, cervicis, capitas) Insertion
fibers run superiorly to the spinous processes in upper thoracic region and to cranium
Erector Spinae Innervation
Posterior rami of spinal nerves
Main actions of Erector Spinae
Acting bilaterally- extend head and neck; as back is flexed control movement by gradually lengthening fibers
Acting Unilaterally- laterally flex vertebral column
