Posterior Axio-Appendicular Flashcards
What is the insertion of trapezius?
Lateral third of clavicle, acromion, & spine of scapula
What is the origin of trapezius?
Medial third of superior nuchal line, external occipital protuberance, nuchal ligament, spinous processes of C7-T12 vertebrae
What innervates trapezius?
Spinal accessory nerve (CN XI) & C3, C4 spinal nerves
What are the actions of trapezius?
Descending: elevates scapula
Middle: retracts scapula
Ascending: depresses scapula
descending & ascending superiorly rotate glenoid cavity
What is the origin of latissimus dorsi?
Spinous processes of inferior 6 thoracic vertebrae, thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest, & inferior 3 or 4 ribs
What is the insertion of latissimus dorsi?
floor of intertubercular sulcus (groove) of humerus
What innervates latissimus dorsi?
Thoracodorsal nerve (C6, C7, C8)
What are the actions of latissimus dorsi?
Extends, adducts, & medially rotates shoulder joint; raises body toward arms during climbing
What is the origin of levator scapulae?
Posterior tubercles of transverse processes of C1-C4
What is the insertion of levator scapulae?
Medial border of scapula superior to root of spine
What innervates levator scapulae?
Dorsal scapula (C5) & cervical (C3, C4) spinal nerves
What is the action of levator scapulae?
Elevates scapula & tilts glenoid cavity inferiorly
What is the origin of rhomboid minor?
Nuchal ligament & spinal processes of C7 & T1
What is the insertion of rhomboid minor?
Medial border of scapula at level of spine
What innervates rhomboid minor?
dorsal scapular nerve (C4, C5)
