PROCESS 1-5

1: The experimenters chose… as their target…
2: Using convenience sampling… In order to conduct the study, the experimenters decided to use ..
3: The total sample was between 30-32 participants which… Each class was experimented on the same day. Name the two groups Class A and Class B.
4: Class A/B: In preparation, the experimenters organized a suitable time to conduct the study…This included…
5: Before proceeding with the experiment… Next, they briefly introduced the experiment by addressing all necessary requirements…This included: informed consent procedures, confidentiality, voluntary participation, withdrawal rights, deception and debriefing. The written passage that the experimenters cited is placed in an appendix

A
  1. The experimenters chose students from Ivanhoe Grammar School as their target population
  2. Using convenience sampling, the experimenters chose year 12 students (17-18 years old) who were readily available at Ivanhoe Grammar School. In order to conduct the study, the experimenters decided to use Year 12 Students from two separate classes
  3. The total sample was between 30-32 participants which consisted of roughly 15-16 males and 15-16 females. Each class was experimented on the same day. Name the two groups Class A and Class B.
  4. Class A/B: In preparation, the experimenters organized a suitable time to conduct the study. On the day of the experiment, the student researchers brought in materials/equipment that were needed to conduct the experiment. This included: computer, pens/pencils, informed consent papers, blank answer grids, PowerPoint presentation, cue cards and a USB stick
  5. Before proceeding with the experiment, the student researchers projected the PowerPoint Presentation on to the whiteboard. Next, they briefly introduced the experiment by addressing all necessary requirements and ethical considerations. This included: informed consent procedures, confidentiality, voluntary participation, withdrawal rights, deception and debriefing. The written passage that the experimenters cited is placed in an appendix

PROCESS 6-9

6: Informed consent papers were given back to the experimenters
7: The experimenters began the study by clicking the next slide from the PowerPoint presentation…. Step 7 was automatically repeated for the next 19 words
8: After the last word was presented… The experimenters asked the participants to begin writing.
9: After 5 minutes…

A
  1. Informed consent papers were given back to the experimenters
  2. The experimenters began the study by clicking the next slide from the PowerPoint presentation. Each slide (a part from the introductory slide) automatically transitioned every 4 seconds. The first word was presented to the participants. Step 7 was automatically repeated for the next 19 words
  3. After the last word was presented, the next slide was a 5-minute timer. The experimenters asked the participants to begin writing.
  4. After 5 minutes, the experimenters collected the data from the participants
