A

Idea that previous societies were based on the production of material goods
Postmodern societies were based on buying and selling knowledge in forms of images and signs
Signs have no relation to physical reality making it difficult for people to distinguish between image and reality - links to hyper reality. EG some films sell because of high end actors and nothing else

What is time space compression

A

barriers to communication and information has broken down over time creating what Strinati call “confusion over time and space”. This makes it difficult for individuals to remain one sole identity and causes hybridity with the break down of social classes and their norms.
