Post lab Questions Flashcards
exoenzymes and endoenzymes
exoenzymes act on substrates outside of the cell like macromolecules, where as endoenzymes act on smaller molecules like sugar inside the cell
serological tests and examples
all tests involve specific antibody and antigen bonding, so if you have one of these then the other can be tested for. .
- precipitation: involve soluble antibodies and antigens that are visible in agar (ouchterlony plate)
- agglutination: involves cellular antigens binding to antibodies and forms a clump, blood typing is example
- ELISA reactions are color changing reactions where antibody or antigen is bound to a dye so color appears when bonded, examples is pregnancy test
indirect presence of enzyme involves two things
the disappearance of substrate or appearance of end product. example for direct would be the cytochrome oxidase enzyme
