What did the impressionist miss out?
They neglected 3d space, expressive quality of line and lost the importance of subject matter.
What methods did Seurat develop and what were they?
Seurat experimented with colour theory. He used the method of divisionism - where you place complementary colours side by side to enhance them as the eye mixes them visually. This method was applied using the pointillist technique - placing dots of complementary colour side by side.

How did Seurat create sense of movement?
Used lines of expression, ‘happy diagonals’
Why was Cezanne so important for modern art?
He was one of the first artist to break away from using one point perspective. He would use lots of different perspectives and paint his object in relation to each other rather than to the viewer.
How did he build up form?
By the gradual variation of colour tones.
What were all objects basically made up of?
Sphere’s, Cones and Cylinders = Geometric shapes.
