Post-Exam 2: Wk13D2 Biogeochemical cycling Flashcards
ace tf out of exam 3
Biogeochemical cycles
cycles of key chemicals for life
(think of [water, nitrogen, phosphorus, & carbon], between [rocks, soil, water, air, and living things])
look at global hydrologic cycle
(there’s precipitation, condensation, transpiration, deposition, sublimation, infiltration, plant uptake, groundwater, percolation)
evapotranspiration
(we changed these patterns by altering habitats, etc, in mass)
roots take up water from the soil –>
water is drawn up the stem to the leaves –>
veins carry water into the leaves –>
water evaporates from the leaves
Monterey groundwater
(underneath out feet) polluting ground water, we’re drawing up water that takes 20,000 years to refill, unless we replenish it
hydrological cycle in cali
look at pic
(reservoir, runoff, stream, river, treatment plant, recharge basic, irrigated agriculture, evapotranspiration, and more)
hydrological (water) cycle
California is know for our water idk moving
global nitrogen cycle
decomposition of detritus into ammonia, (look at the picture)
