Possessive pronouns are …
the equivalent of the English pronouns “mine,” “yours,” “his,” “hers,” “theirs” and “its.”
But they aren’t used in exactly the same way in Spanish as they are in English. Possessive pronouns must match the noun they represent in both number and gender
What are the possessive pronouns?
Me: mio, mia, mios, mias
You (familiar): tuyo, tuya, tuyos, tuyas
Ustd.: suyo, suya, suyos, suyas
Nos: nuestro, nuestra, nuestros, nuestras
Them: suyo, suya, suyos, suyas
Your mother and mine can’t sing. (familiar)
Tu madre y la mía no pueden cantar.
This book isn’t mine, it’s yours. (familiar)
Este libro no es mío, es tuyo.
My socks are red, his are black.
My glasses are red, hers are black.
My car is blue, yours is white. (formal)
My blouse is white, theirs are black.
Mis calcetines son rojos, los suyos son negros.
Mis gafas son rojas, las suyas son negras.
Mi coche es azúl, el suyo es blanco.
Mi blusa es blanca, la suya es negra.
This car is ours.
Este coche es nuestro.
My things are important.
