List 4 Porter duties:
A
- Move patients around the hospital; ex. from unit to unit, or from unit to other departments.
- They use wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds
- They transport anything that is of a confidential nature to different parts of the hospital.
- They move deceased patients from the unit to the morgue.

What information is required when booking a porter?
A
- Nursing unit
- Patient name
- Type of transportation required; ex. wheelchair, stretcher, bed
- Patient’s destination
- Time of appt prn
- If patient has any special requirements such as IV or O2
- Contact/isolation precautions

- Will they need help getting on to the table/is the patient ambulatory
- Are there any special requirements such as IV or O2
- Do they need an interpreter
- Are they pregnant
- Have they had a recent GI Barium
- Do they have an allergy to contrast media
- Are they Diabetic
- Do they have a seizure disorder
- Are they sight or hearing impaired
- Any contact/isolation precautions
