Q
Effects
A
- infertility

Q
Control
A
- lifelong immunity once exposed
- – can be pockets of naive animals in large herds
- maternal antibody persists for 7 months
- – vaccination important to prevent waning of herd immunity (cyclical infection every 3-4 years)
- – gilts most important (<50% may be immune at the point of mating)
- – vaccinate prior to mating (~3 weeks)
- no effective treatment
