Death rate
The number of deaths per 1000 people per year
Fertility rate
The number of live births per 1000 women aged 15-49 in one year. Also the average number of children a woman in a population will bear
Life expectancy
The average number of years from birth a person can expect to live
Infant mortality rate
The number of deaths of children under the age of 1 year expressed per 1000 live births per year
Longevity
The increase in life expectancy over a period of time
Natural change
The change in size of a population caused by the inter- relationship between birth and death rates
Natural increase
If birth rates exceed death rates then population will increase
Population density
The number of people in an area. Obtained by dividing total population by total area and measure in number of people per km2
Crude rate
A statistical measure of any population expressed as per 1000 people
Migration rate
The difference of immigrants and emigrants of an area in a period of time divided per 1000 inhabitants
Birth rate
A measure of an areas fertility. It is expressed as the number of live births per 1000 people in one year
