  • health enables us to pursue our goals, acquire skills, education and satisfy personal aspirations
  • focus on the inequities in health experienced by marginalized/disadvantaged
  • Defines strategies of health promotion that emphasize individual and community action to improve the QOL
  • HEALTH PROMOTION IS the process of enabling people to take control over and improve their health (Ottawa charter ‘86)
  • rooted in social justice, advocacy and partnerships
