Q

2 models of Population Ecology

A
  1. Exponential Growth: The accelerated growth pattern of a species as a result in an environment with unlimited resources, unrealistic since environments will always have limiting resources
  2. Logistics Growth: The result of growth due to limited resources, more realistic since resources are limiting overtime

Q

What’s Carrying Capacity (K)

A

The max amount of organisms an environment can support, where K isn’t constant due to seasons, events, and competition

Q

Two types of Population Growth Regulation

A
  1. Density-Dependent: Refers to regulating the growth of a population through biological factors such as Disease, Competition, and Predation
  2. Density-Independent: Refers to regulating the growth of a population through physical factors such as Fires, Droughts, and other catastrophe

Q

r-Selected

A

Species type that matures early in life, usually they have lots of offspring with little to none parental care, and have no hierarchy
