What is population?
The people who inhabit a particular country or region.
What is population diversity?
Composition of the population - ethnicity, age, sex, or how is NZ’s population made up?
What is population sustainability?
Capacity of the environment to support a population in the longer term, or what are some population problems we may have in the future?
What is migration and mobility of a population?
Internal and external migration trends, or where are people moving to and from?
What is population change?
Population totals, age-sex structure and natural increase, or how has our population make up changed over time?
What are natural location factors?
Natural reasons that affect population distribution, e.g relief, soil, climate, drainage (water), minerals and extreme natural events.
What are cultural location factors?
Cultural or economic reasons that affect population distribution, e.g economic factors like trade, accessibility of ports and employment opportunities, and cultural factors that affect lifestyle like environment, beaches, infrastructure, services, family and friends.
