What does birth rate mean?
the number of babies per 1000 people
What does death rate mean?
the number of people who died per 1000 people
What does natural increase mean?
The difference between the number of births and deaths per year
What does population growth rate mean?
The speed at which the population increases
What factors influence where people live?

war, water, food, crime rates, health care, geography of area, leader and education
what does ageing population mean?
the growth in the population of older people (65+)
What is migration?
The movement from one place to another
What is an immigrant?
They move into another country
What is an emmigrant?
They move out of a country
What is international migration?
migration across borders
what is net migration?
the difference between both immigration and emigration in one country (can be +ve or -ve)
What is an Economic migrant?
people that move from one place to another to advance their economic or professional prospects
What is a Asylum seeker?
A person who has left their home country as a political refugee and is seeking asylum in another country
What is a refugee?
A person who has been forced to leave their home country in order to escape persecution, war or natural disaster. they have already received a positive claim on their asylum
What is an illegal immigrant?
A person who arrives in a country without permission
