Describe the global distribution of population density.
The pattern of global population distribution is uneven.
Name two physical factors affecting population.
Relief, climate, fertility.
Name two human factors affecting population
Amenities, jobs.
What is natural increase?
The difference between birth and death.
When does a natural increase occur?
When birth rates are higher than death rates.
What is a population explosion?
A sudden rapid rise in the number of people.
How to calculate population change?
New population - Original population = change, (Change ÷ original population) X 100 = % change/increase
Where is population increasing rapidly?
Developing countries.
What is the definition of overpopulation?
Too many people for a particular country or area.
What are the three main consequences of overpopulation?
1) Social
2) Economic
3) Environmental.
Give an example of a social consequence.
Lack of water, not enough food available, not enough homes leading to illegal homes being built, not enough medical care for people, diseases will spread.
Give an example of an economic consequence.
Not enough jobs, gas and oil will run out.
Give an example of an environmental consequence.
Rates of pollution will increase: air pollution and waste, destruction of forests and habitats.
