A
5 men break in to the Democratic National committee in Watergate Apartment. One man was a former CIA, Nixon planned cover-up= advisors ordered break-in to steal sensitive campaign info, and tap phones. Destroyed the documents and lied in court. Nixon ordered Cia to stop FBI investigation. Nixon resigns.

Iran Hostage Crisis

Nov 4, 1979. Iran mob attacks US embassy in Tehran (Iran), takes several dozen hostages. Iran had overthrown their Shah and US had helped him. President Carter negotiates for hostages then tries military offense. Both fail. Gas prices&inflation skyrocket, US blames Carter
