What is the definition of a political party?
Organisations of people that look to make policy often based on their ideology and seek to win elections
How do political parties in the us differ to the uk? And why?
Do not have the same concentration of power.
Us jealousy guarded by each individual state (function better) and the sheer size and diversity make it’s difficult to impose will or discipline.

Why are parties significant in the us?
No one who can truly be called the leader so many divisions even at state level no sovereign in one person. (Pres: not leader as only control of the White House)
Less centralised government function best at state level. Works well for the size of the us.

What is the definition of conservative?
A conservative view favours free enterprise private ownership and low taxation. Averse to change and hold traditional family values
What is the definition of liberal?
Willing to research or accept ideas, look to protect individuals, advocate for workers and minority rights and liberties and favour taxation and regulatory business
How are the democrats fiscally liberal
High taxes for welfare spending
February 2009 democrat President Obama signed 156% increase in federal tax on tobacco into law
High public spending for those in need and large governor intervene.
