Describe a policy cycle
A policy cycle is the understanding that there can be distinctions made about the different phases of policy making process.
In lasswells classic model, what is the order of their cycle?
Intelligence, recommendation, prescription, invocation, application, appraisal, termination and back to the top
How should potential policy changes be approached before the cabinet?
Problem, seek evidence, test proposals and recommend actions before cabinet
What are the phases in eastons model cycle?
Input, throughput, output and feedback.
What are the phases in Bridgman & Davis’ cycle model?
Identify issues, policy analysis, policy instrument, consultation, coordination, decision, implementation, evaluation.
Describe an off ramp in the policy process.
When one step of the process is unable to be reached, and so following the other steps would be pointless.
Describe a road block in policy process.
When a key actor doesn’t wish to cooperate.
