Rights to plays
the rights for most plays are held by play publishing houses or royalty houses on behalf of the writers

this is a background check thats required for any jobs that involve interaction with people that are considered vulnerable e.g children, elderly, disabled
Public liability insurance and employer liability insurance
Liability insurance is a part of the general insurance system risk financing to protect the purchaser from the risks of liabilities imposed by law suits and similar claims. it protects the insured in the event they are sued for claims that come within the coverage of the insurance policy.
PPL license (performers phonographic limited)
if you play recorded music or music videos in public, you will need a PPL license. The fees collected are distributed as payments to the PPL members, the performers and rights holders of recorded music (this is also required to play background music).
PRS licence (performing rights society)
if you play any live or recorded music in a performance you will need to apply for this license to ensure that the royalties are paid to the writers and arrangers of the music who must bePRS members
Disciplinary and dismissal policy
before taking a formal disciplinary action or dismissing someone, an employer must go through their disciplinary procedures. this is a set way for an employer to deal with issues, all staff are required to abide by the employers policies, creating a sustainable and fair working environment.
grievance policy
by law employers must set out a grievance procedure and share its writing with all of their employees.this ensures that all problems are east with promptly, fairly an consistently to help the staff concerned. this covers bullying, harassment or victimisation.
health and safety policy
sets out a general approach to manage health and safety in a business. a document that says who does what, when and how.
GDPR (general data protection regulation)
a legal framework that sets guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information.
pay
a strategic play plan to inform employees of arrangements for pay and how the pay system operates.
equal opportunities
means that all people will be treated equally similarly and not disadvantage by prejudice or bias.
working hours and overtime
- maximum weekly working hours are 48hrs (on average) including overtime
- you can choose to work overtime but an employer can’t tell you that you have to
- normal working hours are fixed by your employment contract
sickness and absence policy
this times to ensure that absence is managed in a consistent and effective way. disability related sickness absence will be recorded but not categorised as a sickness absence.
maternity/adoption/paternity/parental leave
covers rights and responsibilities, arrangements for leave and pay and provisions for return to work.
