Category 2 complaint
Serious or significant matter - Authority actively oversees police investigation

Referred to police for conciliation with complainant and investigation by police as necessary
Category 5 Investigation
Minor matters or matters requiring NFA by the authority.
Police may need to assess the behaviour to see whether there are performance issues conduct or learnings
Action on complaints. When the authority receives a complaint it may do the following (RIOT)
Receive and if applicable independently investigate complaints regarding conduct
Investigate of its own notion
Oversee or review police investigations
Take appropriate action in respect of the Act
