what does DCPM stand for
Dual Control Point Machine
what does EHPM stand for
Electro Hydraulic Points Machine
what are the two positions?
Normal- ahead
Reverse- Diverge
on DCPM what is the motor position
remote controlled
prevents manual operation
on DCPM what is the hand position?
to prevent remote control
we use this when the points have failed to protect the train by holding signals governing points
on DCPM what is the smaller lever we use to choose our position?
the selector lever
on DCPM what is the larger lever that selects the route position
the Hand Throw Lever
(the motor lever needs to be in the hand operating position)
if you are setting crossover points
ensure you have set both ends of the crossover correctly
how/when do we use DCPM?
when there is a failure and under instruction of signaller or TC depending
normal position
reverse position
intermediate position?
what will signals display when the DCPM is in the hand position?
all signals applicable to the points will display danger
if the points are in the correct position what is procedure?
you must fully engage by putting the hand throw lever across and back again

once you have set the points correctly what must you ensure before leaving the DCPM machine?
they must be secured on the machine by a padlock
may you be asked to go back and put the hand throw lever to the normal position and the selector lever to motor on a DCPM
yes you may be asked to go back and lock the machine padlocks
how might you secure the points on the track when using DCPM
point clips (not used by us) placed UNDER the rail
Hand Lock Bar (we may use) lifting the bar against the point blade locked with a 5p
what is the purpose of EHPM
enable the points to be operated by a signaller
