Assonance
the repetition of similar vowel sounds followed by different constant sounds especially in words that are together.

Conceit
comparing two things to each other that aren’t the same.
Consonance
the repetition of similar sounds.
Euphony
pleasing and soothing effects to the ear due to repeated vowels and smooth consonants.
Paradox
a statement or situation that may be true but seems impossible or difficult to understand because it contains two opposite facts or characteristics.
Synechdoche
a figure of speech in which a part of something stands for the whole.
Heroic Couplet
a rhyming couplet, or two lines of poetry, written in iambic pentameter
Iambic Pentameter
the five syllables
Rhyme
correspondence of sound between words or the endings of words, especially when these are used at the ends of lines of poetry.
Alliteration
the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words.
Enumeration
the act or process of making or stating a list of things one after another.
Metaphor
a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.
Imagery
visually descriptive or figurative language, especially in a literary work.
Repetition
a literary device that involves using the same word or phrase over and over again in a piece of writing or speech.
