What’s a Sonnet
It’s a short rhyming poem with 14 lines. Sonnets use iambic pentameter in each line and use line ending rhymes
What’s a Limerick
A 5 line witty poem with a distinctive rhythm. The 1st, 2nd & 5th lines are longer and rhyme while lines 3 & 4 are short lines and do not rhyme. (A-A-B-B-A)
What’s a Haiku?
It’s a small poem with 3 lines. each line has a phrase. 1st line has 5 syllables, 2nd line has 7 syllables and the 3rd line has 5 syllables. It is mainly used for nature
What’s a Couplet?
two line verse which rhyme and forms a unit alone to as part of a poem.
What’s a Free verse?
it doesn’t follow any rules. They are made through the author, Rhyming, syllables, count, punctuation etc can be done but its hoer the author wants the poem to be. There is no right or wrong
what’s an Iambic pentameter
It’s a common meter in poetry consisting of an unrhymed line with five feet or accents , each foot containing an unaccented syllable and a accented syllable
