What is a simile?
Similes are a way of describing one thing as being like another, using the words “like” or “as”.
What is personification?
Giving human like traits to an object. Like pronouns “he” and “she” or things like it walked, felt or imagined.
What is an adjective?
A describing word. Like the green bus or the floral skirt.
What is alliteration?
A sentence where most of the words begin with the same sound like:
“She sells sea shells by the sea shore.”
What is assonance?
The religion of a vowel to create sound effects. Like “Glee, breeze, freeze.”
What is a Metophor?
When you say one thing is like another. For example “run like the wind”.
What is onomatopoeia?
The echo and intimidation of natural objects like “bang” “crash” or “buzz”.
What is hyperbole?
A figure of speech which is exaggerated to create effect or emphasis. Often used by people to make something seem more challenging than it actually was. Like “It’s 1000 degrees.”
